The local outfit will contest the 2017 Samsung State Championships at Baulkham Hills.

Muswellbrook is fielding a side in division three, where they will meet some of the best netballing talent from throughout NSW.

“The girls have been training two nights a week since the end of January,” Ingle said.

“They’ve displayed a positive attitude towards their preparation.

“They began by participating in State League (Hunter Region) over three consecutive weekends in March.

“They played 14 games, recording six wins and a draw to narrowly miss the semi-finals.

“Muswellbrook faced its rivals twice, showing good improvement the second time around.”

The youngsters also took part in carnivals at Woy Woy, Singleton, Tamworth and Newcastle, which pleased Ingle.

“They recorded an undefeated streak at Woy Woy, and very competitive results at the other venues,” he said.

“Ten victories, one draw and nine losses, with many of those defeats by six goals or less.

“They’ve been playing in the local A grade competition, too.

“Again, the girls have shown steady development.

“Their final hit-out saw them up against experienced Comprint where they went down 41-28 in a very good game.

“So, we’ll do the best we can in Sydney.”

The Muswellbrook team consists of Skylar Dever, Sophie Martin, Polly Britten, Georgia Chick, Mikayla Dever, Bree Hurst, Lucy Haylen, Kate Lloyd, Mia Collins, Jacinta Ballard and Melanie Richards.
