Despite a four-goal second quarter, the Cats were no match for the Roosters, with final scores being Singleton 18.13.121 to Muswellbrook 7.3.45.
Gun forward Adam Higham had a good day up front, playing somewhat of a lone hand in kicking four majors for Muswellbrook.
The Cats were best served by Higham, Jayden McCarthy, Nigel Smith, Lachlan Watts, Jacob Connor and Cam Benkovic.
Next weekend, Muswellbrook is at its Weeraman Field home in both grades.
The Plate side hosts Newcastle City at 2pm and the women’s team will be eyeing off their historic first victory when they host the Newcastle Novas at noon.
