And, this weekend, the Under-12 representative team will travel to Sydney for the 2017 Samsung State Age Championships.

Head coach Sally Comerford said it was the first time the “lovely little cherubs” were able to go away for the competition.

“They can do development [squad] at Under-11s but they don’t go away,” she said.

“This is the first year they can actually go away for the three-day carnival.”

Comerford said there were a number of reasons why being part of a representative team was beneficial for players, from developing friendships to taking them outside their comfort zone.

“It teaches them resilience, self-belief, as well as mental toughness,” she said.

Comerford said there was a good team surrounding the girls, including assistant coach Jody Meissner, manager Kristine Kermond, and primary carer Darrell Byron.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors – Comprint Solutions, Muswellbrook and District Worker’s Club, MACH Energy, and The Chop Shop Butchery,” she said.

“And, everyone else that has supported us along the journey.”

Comerford said she was very proud of the girls and their efforts.

“They show up and they have got an amazing attitude,” she said.

The group of the Comprint 12s – Lluka Moffitt, Blossom Tanner, Niamh Bray, Amara McTaggart, Hannah Kermond, Destiny Wilton, Sienna Comerford, Zanaya Cullen, Josie Matthews, Sherri Brown – will join the Under-13s, Under-14s, and Under-15s, at the state competition.
