POLICE are investigating an incident that occurred outside the Shamrock Hotel in Muswellbrook on Saturday night.

About midnight, a fight broke out between a number of people that had been celebrating at the premises earlier in the evening.
During the altercation, an unknown male and a 57-year-old bystander were punched in the head, and others threatened.
Police arrested a 22-year-old male and charged him with assault, affray, resist arrest, assault police and possess prohibited drug.
He will appear before the Muswellbrook Local Court on August 7 in relation to these matters.
Investigations are continuing.
Police are interested in speaking to any witnesses or victims who did not make themselves known to officers on the night.

Attempted armed robbery
ABOUT 2.45pm on Wednesday, July 5, a 34-year-old Muswellbrook man attended the John Hunter Motel where he threatened the manager with a knife and demanded money.
The manager was able to lock himself in his office and contact police.
Officers attended a short time later, however the accused had fled.
Police located the man at a nearby residence and, after a short confrontation resulting in officers deploying their taser, the accused was apprehended.
He was conveyed to Muswellbrook Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery at as well as a number of other offences.
The accused was bail refused, to appear before Muswellbrook Local Court on July 12.
Man refused bail
ON April 21, a 38-year-old man is alleged to have attended an address in Muswellbrook where he shot and injured a 40-year-old male known to him.
Strike Force Crystalbrook was established by Hunter Valley police to investigate the shooting and armed robbery.
On July 4, investigators received information that led to the arrested of the accused at Campbelltown.
Members of the Public Order Riot Squad, South West Metro RES, as well as local police from Campbelltown LAC assisted in the arrest.
The man was charged with shoot with intent to murder, robbery while armed (with wounding), firearms offences, as well as warrant offences (revocation of parole).
He was bail refused and will appear at Newcastle Local Court on August 30.
