The home side prevailed 8.8.56 to 8.5.53.
In a ding-dong battle, the Cats kept the Dockers to just four goals after quarter-time as their resilient defence provided the platform for a well-earned victory.
A superb four-goal performance from Jessy Besford led Muswellbrook to an outstanding triumph with Jayden Galvin kicking the winning goal with less than three minutes left in the match.
The Cats were best served by Galvin, Broque Smith, Jacob Connor and Ashton Ingerson.
That wraps up 2017 for Muswellbrook and while two wins for the season may not look good, the side was given a tough challenge after being promoted to the Black Diamond Plate.
Yet, the team rose to this challenge and proved competitive in almost every match they played.
The introduction of the women’s squad was another highlight and has set the club up for a strong 2018.
The Cats will host their presentation night on September 8.
