But, on Monday, the team added an extra level of support for animals by hosting an RSPCA Cupcake Day.
The annual event encourages people across Australia to bake treats and raise money and awareness for animal welfare.
Trainee vet nurse Bianca Mell said it was the first time the Muswellbrook business had celebrated the day.
She believes it is important to do something for animals because they can’t speak for themselves.
“I just think that animals who need RSPCA obviously need help, and I love animals and I work at a vet, so may as well,” she said.
“And, I mean, it’s cupcakes – cupcakes are cool.”
Miss Mell said there had been a lot of support from the community throughout the day.
“We even had people say ‘I saw your advertisement on Facebook, I’ll just donate money’ – they don’t actually buy the cupcakes,” she said.
Money raised through the event will support the rehabilitation, rescue and re-homing of more than 135,000 animals a year.
“When [RSPCA] find strays in drains and stuff, they’ll help fix them and help them find their forever home,” she said.
Miss Mell said the business’ fundraising goal was $500.
Those interested in supporting the cause are encouraged to visit the local team and buy a cupcake or two.
All cakes are $2 each, and there is the option of buying dog-friendly ‘pupcakes’.
