Muswellbrook Rams defend BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League under-18 premiership

THE Muswellbrook Rams successfully defended their BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League under-18 crown at Olympic Park on Saturday, downing the Singleton Greyhounds 12-8.

After succumbing to the same opponents in the major semi-final a fortnight ago, the young Rams were determined not to make a similar mistake on home soil.

They grabbed an early lead, via a try to Player of the Match Fletcher Baker and a conversion to Bailey Taylor.

Brayden Turnbull then put Singleton on the scoreboard.

But, a Brock Farrell four-pointer and subsequent goal to Taylor extended the Rams advantage to 12-4.

The Greyhounds threw everything at Muswellbrook in the second half and finally cracked the defence in the final minute, courtesy of Morgan Amidy.
