IT was as easy as A-B-C for Phoebe Wolfgang at the 2017 Premier’s Spelling Bee Regional Finals at Rutherford Public School on Wednesday.
The Denman Public School student won her section – and is now off to Sydney for the state decider, which will take place at the Eugene Goossens Hall on November 8.
The Premier’s Spelling Bee was introduced in 2004 as a fun and educational way for primary school pupils to engage in spelling.
“I extend my congratulations to all students who have participated in the 2017 event,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
“The Spelling Bee provides the opportunity for pupils across NSW to learn new words and to explore the English language in an interesting and challenging way.
“Spelling is the cornerstone of literacy and the Spelling Bee is invaluable in promoting the development of skills necessary for clear communication.
“It encourages our students to embrace a love of spelling and, in turn, a love of reading, which will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
