At noon, Ronald McDonald House Charities Ride for Sick Kids participants’ journey brought them through the Upper Hunter – just in time for lunch.
Muswellbrook McDonald’s owners Phil and Yela Wilson said it was a fantastic charity, used by a lot of people in the community.
“Being part of McDonald’s we’re very involved with Ronald McDonald House,” Mr Wilson said.
“It is a worthwhile charity and does give back a lot.”
Mr Wilson said the service facilities were like a home away from home for the families in need.
”The riders are raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House,” he said.
“They’re basically trying to raise as much funds as possible.
Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW CEO Ross Bingham was among the riders visiting town, and presented Yela, and her husband Phil, with a plaque of appreciation.
Anyone interested in joining the ride next year is welcome to become involved.
“It goes through different places in NSW,” Mr Wilson said.
“This one started in Inverell and finished in Newcastle.
“It’s a fantastic contribution to the House, and Ronald McDonald House is like every other charity – it needs the funds.”
The ride isn’t the only connection Muswellbrook McDonald’s has with the charity.
A couple of times a year, staff members cook meals to take to families staying with their sick children at the house in Newcastle.
“And we have McHappy Day on October 14 – all those funds go to Ronald McDonald House,” Mr Wilson said.
