Camp Quality’s annual 1,000 K’s 4 Kids bike ride visited the Upper Hunter town, before arriving in Muswellbrook, on their way to the Newcastle destination.

Camp Quality fundraising coordinator Shari Nichol said the riders started their journey in Victoria.

“We have 46 riders along with support crew and it’s our seventh year,” she said.

“We are close to our fundraising target and the support has been amazing.

“We bring our primary school education program to schools in the area as we ride through.

“A number of the riders have either had personal experiences with children who have had cancer or have actually had cancer as a child themselves.

“So it’s really about raising awareness and education to create a better life for children living with cancer in Australia.

“This is the first time we have come through Sandy Hollow - we normally just go to Merriwa, but accommodation was booked out in Merriwa over the weekend because of the Merriwa Show.

“So it's great to be here.”

Riders travelled between September 8 and 17, to raise awareness and funds for children growing up with cancer.
