And, on Sunday, the pair will celebrate the fruit of their hard work with the official opening of their latest venture – a 340m Go Kart track at their Lake Liddell Recreation Area facility.
The newly constructed amenity makes a nice addition to the existing recreational development at GJs By The Lake – which already includes indoor skydiving, an outdoor laser tag battle field, and more.
Having raised six daughters in Muswellbrook, the couple are anticipating the development will be well-received by local families, not to mention businesses.
It will all begin at 9.30am on Sunday, when the first vehicle makes its way around the track.
Not just a benefit to themselves, the Elphinstone’s are hoping their opening will support local disability support service Overton House, integratedliving.
Those wanting to be the first on the track had the option of bidding in the auction for the first five laps, with all proceeds going to the cause.
The family is encouraging the community to join them on the weekend for a day of family fun, and all are welcome to attend.
“We’ve got all our activities and prices on our Facebook page,” Mr Elphinstone said.
“We’re going to be open seven days a week – from 9.30 to late.
“We’ll operate as many hours as people want to come out here.
“People are starting to hear about it and book parties.
“So we’re going to be catering for hens, bucks, birthday parties, corporate Christmas parties – anything at all.
“This is just the cream on the cake.
“The whole family will be able to come out.
“People aren’t coming here to camp at the moment because they can’t use the water.
“So, we’re going from water-based activities to land-based activities.”
The official opening event will include jumping castles, plus regular activities like rock climbing and laser tag.
“The rest of the day is just going to be Go Kart driving, and we’re going to be catering for food and drinks and all that sort of stuff,” Mr Elphinstone said.
GJs By The Lake is located at 400 Hebden Road, Muswellbrook.
