The local tennis team competed against 19 schools from across NSW and ACT, who progressed after winning through regional events.
“Nine Stage 2 students attended – Taj, Marcus, Noah, Thomas, Koby, Indy, Netise, Aurelia and Emma – and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves,” teacher Kelsea Bashford said.
“In fact, the kids haven’t stopped talking about it.
“They all played to the best of their ability, even though there was some tough competition.
“Each pupil represented MSPS to a high standard.
“I am very proud of all of the students who participated.
“They showed great sportsmanship and encouraged one another to do the best that they could on the day.”
Tennis Australia media operations coordinator Peter Bonadio said Woodbridge was on hand to present the trophies, which delighted the youngsters.
“The tournament was named after Todd because of his involvement with the PSSA when he was a junior and, obviously, his tennis record speaks for itself,” he explained.
“More than 300 schools from across NSW and ACT participated in the competition, which is open to Year 3 and 4 students and is played on smaller modified courts suitable for red modified balls.
“It’s designed to encourage grass-roots tennis participation in schools and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among children.
“The event is also run by Tennis NSW in partnership with the NSW Primary School Sports Association.”
