Following early feasibility studies to access the resource, members of the Epuron team are hoping to discuss the design concept of the development with residents at Muscle Creek, Mount Pleasant, McCullys Gap and Hebden.
“We understand wind farms can raise questions and concerns, but also create new opportunities for businesses, individuals and communities,” a spokesperson said.
“Epuron wants to continue to have conversations with locals as we develop our plans for this project.
“The sessions are a chance to share information as well as answer questions about the situation.
“We’ll also be seeking views from those who live nearby [the proposal].”
Residents can drop into the Muscle Creek RFS station (Muscle Creek Road) on Wednesday, October 24 (4pm-6pm), Mount Pleasant Public School (Goorangoola Road, Greenlands) on Thursday, October 25 (4pm-6pm), McCullys Gap Community Hall (Sandy Creek Road) on Monday, October 29 (4pm-6pm) and Hebden Hall (Hebden Road) on Tuesday, October 30 (4pm-6pm).
Epuron will use the Department of Planning and Environment guidelines to establish a Community Consultation Committee (CCC), too.
“We’ll be asking for expressions of interest from local individuals and groups impacted or interested in the wind farm,” the spokesperson said.
“The CCC can be an effective means to gather feedback – and is comprised of community representatives including residents from the area, organisations and businesses, as well as those from Epuron and council.”
The Muswellbrook Chronicle revealed plans were in the pipeline to build the large wind farm, consisting of 70-80 turbines, in the region back in March.
“We are currently conducting [wind] monitoring on the site and, in the next 12 months, would be looking at further studies to assess the feasibility of the site,” it was stated at the time.
“This would involve biodiversity studies, visual and noise assessments as well as constructability analysis mainly looking at access roads to the proposed sites.
“The design of the project would be iterative and evolve as these studies take place as well as discussions with landowners that want to be part of the project.”
Epuron is also involved in the Liverpool Range Wind Farm, which involves the construction and operation of up to 272 turbines with a combined output of 979 MW, between the townships of Coolah and Cassilis.
