For the first time, Scone Grammar School Year 11 student Liam Wallace will oversee the Scone Junior Hotshots program when it starts at the Scone Tennis Club next month.
A registration/expression of interest day is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm, with the initiative beginning on Thursday, May 4.
After assisting Trembath during the recent school holiday tennis camp, Wallace said he was looking forward to the opportunity of nurturing a new group of young players.
“We don’t have a coach [at the moment],” he admitted.
“But, it’s important to get juniors involved in the sport.
“I’ve received a lot of support from the Scone Hardcourt Tennis Association.
“They paid the cost for me to attend the Hot Shots Community Coaching Course at Penrith.
“So, this will be an amazing chance to pass on, what I learned, to the little kids in the program.
“In fact, the club’s very keen to promote tennis as a game for all ages and abilities.”
If anyone is interested in the Scone Junior Hotshots, contact Liam Wallace on 0408 495 017 or Simon Groom on 0411 205 728.
