Despite a solid defensive effort by the Cats, they eventually went down 13.11.89 to 3.8.26.
Muswellbrook matched the league leading Saints for the first three quarters and trialled by just 25 points at the final break before a six-goal to nil final term blew the margin out to 63.
The Cats’ best players were Jessy Besford, Adam Higham, Matthew Dunn, Nathan McDonald, Cameron Benkovic and Jordan Solly.
In the GE Women’s fixture, it was another tough day for Muswellbrook and, despite a very committed effort, was no match for the finals bound Maitland Saints going down by 126 points.
Demi Frazer, Karli Anshaw, Natalie Heard, Tiarne Forder, Paris Adam and Gyarn Rawson were their best.
Next week, Muswellbrook welcomes Wyong Lakes to Weeraman Field in both the Plate and Women’s fixtures, with the women’s game being their last for the year.
