Following a couple of successful productions, Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society will present Song Contest – The Almost Eurovision Experience next month.
Choreographer and performer Rayna Russo is encouraging those looking for a fun night out with friends to attend the show.
Tickets are now on sale for the show, which will be at the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music.
While the people of the Upper Hunter know MATS put their heart into every performance, this show will feature something a little different.
The audience will decide which country in the fictional competition will take home the winner’s trophy.
”All of us swap and change our roles throughout the show,” Ms Russo said.
“We have a cast of 20 and the audience get to choose who wins every night.
“There will be lots of flags and hand clappers for them to cheer on their favourite country.
“It’s a not a typical musical.
“It has a quirky host and is filled with a lot of comedy.
“I guess it’s diff to what we’ve done before.”
Ms Russo has some advice for those interested in attending the show.
“I would say brace yourself because it’s completely, wildly, funny and it’s completely different for Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter,” she said.
“We laugh constantly just watching the rehearsals.
“There’s just so much talent sitting in Muswellbrook itself; it’s worth every ounce to come and watch.”
Tickets are $32.50 and include a souvenir flag and clacker.
Refreshments will be available from the licenced bar from 7pm.
The production will continue for six shows – October 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21; at 7pm for 7.30pm start.
