And, after 26 years in the same location, Susan Fayth will soon bid her Muswellbrook business, Country Attic, farewell.
“I’ll trade normally until Christmas,” she said.
“However, it’s time to retire and enter the next phase of my life.
“I’ve always been interested in fashion.
“So, it was my dream to have my own business from a young age.
“Now, I’ve achieved that.”
Mrs Fayth admits she’s seen a lot of changes over the past couple of decades.
“I believe fashion has become more casual,” she said.
“People don’t dress up as much anymore, which is a pity.
“Online shopping has made a big difference, too.
“It really hurts small towns like Muswellbrook.”
The local businesswoman concedes she’ll miss Country Attic – and the “wonderful women who come in here”.
“You’ve got to have passion, as well as be a people person,” Mrs Fayth told the Chronicle.
“I’m blessed that I’ve always had lovely clientele.
“I’ve got regulars from Tamworth, Armidale and throughout the Hunter Valley.
“But, it hasn’t been a hard job,” she added with a laugh.
“I’ve really enjoyed the journey.
“As such, I’ve built some beautiful friendships.
“They’ve been a brilliant bunch of ladies – and I’m very grateful for that.
“I’m looking forward to a holiday, a bit of travelling with my husband, Neil, and spending quality time with my granddaughters.”
