It also coincided with a friendly barbecue and the usual bestowments of awards and donations.
The day’s formalities started with the presentation of a large format cheque for $29,000 to De-anne Douglas, manager of Muswellbrook PCYC, and junior representative Grace.
Offering the bequest on behalf of the UHMA were club members Andrew and Chris Corliss, organisers of the Global Village Dinner/Dance, events coordinator Geoff Budden and Global Village Motorfest & Fair organiser Colin McLean.
“This cheque represents the profits from the recently-hosted Global Village events and a donation from the Muswellbrook and District Workers Club,” Mr McLean said.
“It brings the total raised to the Muswellbrook PCYC to $165,000 over an eight-year period, an amount that stays in Muswellbrook for the benefit of the community.”
The next award was the Shannons Clubman of the Year, which was presented to John Daniel by Shannons representative Mr McLean.
A special honour was made to club member Paula Adnum for her consistent supply of cakes and other “yummies” at the organisation’s monthly “Meet and greets” and other events.
The Christmas Party in the Park usually wraps up the year’s activities.
But, the UHMA will have one last appearance in 2017 at the 2NM Glencore Christmas Spectacular at the Muswellbrook Race Club’s Skellatar Park on Saturday, December 9.
