He’s been the main driver behind these popular monthly events at the Muswellbrook Showground.
Some 15 years ago, Mr Collard took charge for the market days on behalf of the Muswellbrook Show Committee.
And, he’s given tireless dedication to this well-liked assembly of all things local.
The Monthly Markets, which take place on the second Sunday of each month, bring together produce, arts, crafts, fashions, coffee, cooking, wines and, even, a poultry auction.
The stallholders display some brilliant wears – and offer some excellent gifts and bargain fines.
Also pulling up stumps from the markets were Charlene and Doug Liddle, who have so kindly provided the beautiful music for the markets.
The Liddles, from Aberdeen, have been the resident “DJ” of sorts.
And, their lovely music has made it more of a carnival atmosphere.
“Spinning the vinyl has always brought us a lot of joy,” Charlene said.
“It’s the little things like the kids having a jig, or someone breaking out in song singing along, that has brought us the biggest smiles.”
The stallholders all chipped in and made a special presentation to Mr Collard; and also honoured the Liddles for their dedication.
The markets will go on, with the legacy of Brian and Lyn’s welcoming nature that has so nurtured its success.
Garth Belford will look to take over the organising in the New Year.
We’re pretty confident Brian and Lyn can now have a sleep in on a Sunday morning – this they have earned.
