HE was only in town for five years but, in that short time, Pastor Richard Moors made his mark at the Trinity Uniting Church – and within the Muswellbrook community.

The popular priest, his wife Kylie and four-and-a-half-year-old son Oliver will bid the area farewell at the end of the week to take up a new role in Brisbane from February 1.
“It’s sad to go, however I’m looking forward to the next challenge and working with young people again,” he said.
“I’ve got a children’s youth and families’ position [in the Uniting Church].
“I knew when I arrived here that it was only a five-year period.
“But, it was also my job to resource the church to enter a new era.
“So, I’m leaving it in a better place.
“It’s time for the Uniting Church to refresh itself – everyone can now move forward.”
Pastor Moors leaves the area with a number of fond memories.
“I’m thrilled the Uniting Church played its part in establishing the Red Door Community Kitchen and the U3A,” he said.
“And, I’m equally delighted residents have now taken them over.
“Both organisations have grown.
“It’s great to see that sense of community in Muswellbrook.
“I’ll miss the people, too.
“The congregation has been warm and caring, especially for Oliver.”
A special farewell service, for Pastor Moors, will take place at the Trinity Uniting Church on Sunday at 11am.
The [Trinity Uniting Church] council is hosting a light luncheon afterwards, too.
