FIREFIGHTERS from the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS), National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), Forestry Corporation NSW (FCNSW) and ACT Rural Fire Service, supported by Remote Area Firefighting Teams (RAFT), water-bombing aircraft and earthmoving equipment, continue to work on a number of fires burning across the Muswellbrook and Singleton LGAs (Local Government Areas).

These fires started as a result of lightning activity across the region.
More than 5700 hectares of bushland has been burnt, with 17 fires continuing to be monitored from the Hunter Valley Fire Control Centre; including:
- Fire name: Elderslie Road, Mitchells Flat, 10 hectares, Going, Advice;
- Fire name: 695, 60 hectares, Being Controlled, Advice;
- Fire name: TJs, 4826.80 hectares, Being Controlled Advice;
- Fire name: South Wollemi Creek, 704.26 hectares, Being Controlled, Advice.
There is no current threat to properties.
A southerly wind change is forecast for Tuesday afternoon.
This will result in smoke being blown towards Broke, Fordwich, Milbrodale and Bulga.
Residents are advised only to contact Triple Zero (000) if they detect a fire without a fire truck in attendance.
Elderslie Road, Mitchells Flat
Firefighters from the NSW RFS, supported by Fire and Recuse NSW and water-bombing aircraft, have responded to reports of a grass fire burning along Elderslie Road, Mitchells Flat. Firefighters continue to work on containing and extinguishing this fire. Elderslie Road at Glendon Lane is currently closed. Crews will continue to patrol the fire ground into the evening.
TJs
The TJs fire is burning in rugged, inaccessible terrain in the Putty State Forest near Braidleys Gully, approximately 30 kilometres south west of Singleton. The fire is approximately 4800ha in size. Firefighters continue to actively patrol the fire ground, dealing with hot spots identified by inferred scans of the area. With warmer weather conditions forecast for the remainder of the week, the focus for firefighters is to maintain and consolidate established containment lines. Where conditions allow, back burning operations may be undertaken which will result in an increase in fire activity and smoke.
This fire has been burning since Saturday, January 13.

Located approximately 20km north-west of Putty in the Wollemi National Park, the fire is approximately 60 hectares in size burning in inaccessible terrain. RAFT crews from the National Parks and Wildlife Service, supported by water-bombing aircraft, continue to work on consolidating containment lines.
South Wollemi Creek
Located approximately 25km north-west of Putty in the Wollemi National Park, the fire is approximately 700 hectares in size burning in inaccessible terrain. RAFT crews from the National Parks and Wildlife Service, supported by water-bombing aircraft, continue to work on consolidating containment lines.
Permits remain suspended for the Singleton and Muswellbrook LGAs until further notice.
