Principal Megan Druitt unveiled its new leaders, with Rylan Gray and Ella Bridge named captains and Vincent Borg and Rhyme Anderson vice-captains, and welcomed two teachers in Emily O’Brien (Year 2) and Mark Morris (computer coordinator).
The school also congratulated Melissa Whiteman, who received the Muswellbrook Shire Council Australia Day Education Award for her outstanding contributions to the students at Denman Public.
“Melissa is an outstanding educator who leads the pupils in dance and drama activities,” Mrs Druitt said.
“She works tirelessly to choreograph dance routines for her students and goes above and beyond to provide opportunities for them, including community performances, Starstruck and Hunter Dance Festival.
“Melissa guides the dance fitness activities, too, which feature all members of the school from kindergarten to Year 6.
“And, the smiles on the pupils’ faces reflect their enjoyment in this daily routine.
“Melissa also successfully led the senior debating team at the zone debating challenge in 2017, which resulted in Denman Public School achieving a first and second place.”
