Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp, federal MP Sharon Claydon, lord mayor Nuatali Nelmes and MLC H John Graham are attending the event at The Edwards that will draw perspectives from the industry.
It follows a similar roundtable Mr Graham ran in the Blue Mountains.
“Newcastle’s vibrant live music scene, which has borne generations of exceptional musicians, is now fighting for its very survival,” Ms Claydon said.
Lord mayor Nelmes said it was a vital pillar of the city’s night-time economy, which was a major employer.
"We want to ensure that our iconic live music venues remain open and that the Newcastle live music scene continues to thrive, and today's roundtable will be a fantastic opportunity to engage with key stakeholders from right across this important industry,” she said.
Mr Crakanthorp said the issue was not unique to Newcastle and was something that had come to the attention of Labor across the state.
“The music industry in Newcastle is facing many challenges and today’s roundtable is about all three levels of government coming together to listen to these concerns,” he said.
“We will hear from over 40 industry stakeholders and this discussion will help us shape our policies to ensure the music industry continues to flourish and thrive in Newcastle.”
“As Newcastle evolves, we need to make sure the music industry is not left behind. Live music is under threat and we want to support it before it is too late.”
