Hosted by the Denman and District Men’s Shed, who double as members of the DDHV, the exhibition featured an exercise bike built by famous boxer Les Darcy, a 1958 Goggomobile, a rebuilt 1906 Darracq, the town’s first bucket-filled fire pump made by Shand Mason on London, Cyclops pedal cars, farm tools in their “working clothes”, the very first cricket bat, ball and stumps owned by Denman Cricket Club, and much, much more.
Even the Upper Hunter Motoring Association joined the “party”.
“We’re very happy with the response,” Denman and District Men’s Shed’s Neville Bray said.
“Everyone’s loved seeing the incredible collection of ‘old’ items, gathered over many, many years by Jeff Wolfgang.
“Our thanks go to coordinator Catherine Reddish, too.
“We’ll definitely look at organising another similar day in the future.
“We’re planning to build a much larger shed to house more of Jeff’s collection, once the necessary funds have been sourced.”
The Denman and District Men’s Shed boasts about 30 members and opens Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm.
The organisation can also open the DDHV by appointment.
