About 3.50am on February 6, the 36-year-old was driving a Hyundai hatchback – and travelling in an easterly direction along Denman Road.
A man, aged 46, was driving an Izuzu rigid truck, in the opposite direction on the same route.
Approximately two kilometres east of the Golden Highway intersection, near a sweeping bend, the vehicles collided head-on.
Emergency services and traffic crews were called to the scene.
As a result of the smash, both vehicles sustained extensive front end damage.
Tragically, the woman died upon impact.
The man sustained minor injuries and severe shock.
He was conveyed to Muswellbrook District Hospital for treatment and mandatory blood and urine testing.
As a result of the collision, east and west-bound traffic was stopped and diversions were implemented along the Golden Highway and Edderton Road, around the scene.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are now being investigated.
A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
