Drew McAlister and Band will appear on the auditorium stage on Saturday, February 17.
Doors open from 7.30pm.
In addition to penning scores of enduring country-rock classics as one half of barnstorming duo McAlister Kemp, McAlister has composed hundreds of tunes both with and for artists here and in the US.
The album Coming Your Way saw him enlist the help of LA-and-Sydney-based producer Andy Mak from Grove Studios to achieve a progressive, modern country rock sound.
Known for working in pop music (Vera Blue, Tina Arena, Bertie Blackman), Mak’s efforts on Australian country music trio The McClymonts’ latest release, Endless, demonstrated his genre versatility and his influence shines through on McAlister’s new album.
As a result, the release was nominated for Best Contemporary Album at the Golden Guitars in January.
To coincide with Tamworth Music Festival and Australia Day, McAlister dropped his second single Australian Heartbeat, another anthemic rousing hit.
“Australia Heartbeat is a reflection on the people who make the wheels turn every day of the year in Australia,” he admitted.
“It’s my family, it’s my friends, it’s me, it’s you.
“I’ve always wanted to write this song and now I’m stoked that it gets to be a single off the new album.”
McAlister has built a solid career that has already seen him nominated for an ARIA Award, win four Golden Guitars and a CMC OZ Artist award.
He is at the forefront of contemporary Australian country music and, as we head into 2018, he delivers a formidable energy with this new single and album.
Tickets – $15 each – are now on sale for the Muswellbrook concert.
