For 2018 those days will be Wednesday, April 4 to Sunday, April 15, and the theme this year is “Let's do more together”.
As described on website seniorsfestival.nsw.gov.au:
“NSW Seniors Festival is designed to celebrate the role seniors play and the contributions they make to the NSW community, aligning to the policy objective of inclusive communities.
“Every year during NSW Seniors Festival, government, community and commercial organisations hold hundreds of events across the state, encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation, health, good nutrition and much more.”
WHO’S IT FOR?
The festival is intended for anyone over 60 years old, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders over the age of 50, plus people over 50 that have a lifelong disability.
WHAT IS ON?
Some of the bigger events that you can attend will be held in or near Sydney, including the Seniors Festival Expo, the Seniors Festival Comedy Show, as well as the Premier’s Gala Concerts.
The expo will be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) on April 5 and 6 and entry is free. There will be “over 50 exhibitors showcasing the latest in lifestyle, technology, health and government services”.
The concerts will also be on at the International Convention Centre (ICC) on April 5 and 6, specifically at 11.15am and 2.45pm. Tickets are free but you need to book them in advance through Ticketek.
The comedy show will also be free, and for this you need to book your tickets through Moshtix. The venue and time is Sydney Town Hall from 11am to 12.30pm on April 11.
Fortunately, for whose who don’t wish to travel to the state’s capital there will also be many things running at a local level, either by your local community groups or by your local council.
One of many examples will be the 2018 Local Achievement Awards program for seniors, so be sure to keep an eye out for those.
