And, rain, hail, or shine, the event will continue in full-strength again this year.
The 22nd annual St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days will return this weekend at the correctional facility grounds.
In anticipation for the upcoming celebration of the gentle giants, we are looking back at the fun of last year’s event.
At the 2017 opening ceremony, committee president Louise Turner welcomed those present.
“As a new committee, we’re doing our best to provide you an entertaining field day,” she said.
“I myself have always had a love of heavy horses.
“There seems to be a real resurgence in both competitor and spectator interest in heavy horses.
“We’re looking forward to a very busy future and aim to keep developing our wonderful event for all to enjoy.”
Mrs Turner said the committee was expecting 50 to 80 horses in 2018.
