The competition pacesetters went into the round six football showdown undefeated, but Garden Suburb stunned the hosts at Victoria Park, courtesy of a 2-0 result.
Before that setback, the Eagles had drawn 2-all with Lake Macquarie, and knocked over Lew Lambton (1-0), Hamilton Azzurri (1-0), Morisset (3-2) and Dudley Redhead (4-1) in earlier matches.
Muswellbrook FC sits atop the ladder on 13 points, one ahead of Lake Macquarie.
Cardiff City (10), Hamilton Azzurri (9) and Dudley Redhead (8) rounds out the top five.
The Eagles will be hoping to return to the winner’s circle against the third-placed Cardiff City when the two sides meet at Victoria Park on June 16 from 12.15pm.
A general bye is in place for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
