After an even first quarter, the Cats got on top of the contest.
However, inaccurate kicking for goal, 11 majors from 33 scoring shots, prevented the margin reflecting their dominance.
Kyle Bray, Adam Higham, Jackson Cook and Jordan Solly were the best players with Cameron Benkovic (four) and Callum Strachan (three) the leading goakickers.
Muswellbrook 2.3, 5.10, 8.16, 11.22 (88)

The Muswellbrook Women had another tough day at the office when they hosted the ladder leading Nelson Bay.
Once again the Cats were very determined, however the extra experience possessed by Nelson Bay proved too strong in the end.
Natalie Heard, Brittany Creighton, Ashleigh Barrowcliffe and Eila Mills were the best.

Next weekend, Muswellbrook travels to the Central Coast to take on Terrigal Avoca in both grades.
