The Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary president, surrounded by fellow members, received a “once-off” monetary windfall of $10,000 to help them purchase surgical endoscopy equipment for patient care at the facility.
And, Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen visited the ladies of the organisation to personally deliver the good news after successful representations were made to NSW Minister for Health Brad Hazzard.
“It’s fabulous,” Mrs Durham said.
“$10,000 will go a very long way.
“Thank you so much.
“We’ve been trying to raise $30,000, so this gift takes our tally up to $17,000.”
Mr Johnsen said he was pleased to assist the hard-working women.
“I am delighted to announce that the donation of $10,000 to the Muswellbrook Hospital Auxiliary will help their fundraising efforts to purchase an instrument for women’s health,” he explained.
“I congratulate, and praise, the ladies of the auxiliary for their ongoing commitment and involvement with the hospital and our community.”
Only last month, the group revealed it had purchased medical equipment totalling $37,000, thanks also to the generosity of the town’s residents and businesses.
The organisation’s largest donation, $19,278, was presented to the theatre department for items they feel will be of great assistance to the doctors and staff.
A further $16,000 went to a floor for comfortable bedside chairs in all wards.
“We sincerely hope this makes everyone’s visit to our hospital a little more comfy,” Mrs Durham said.
“A cheque was also donated to maternity for a mobile transport chair for the amount of $1645.
“We’d like to express our gratitude to the citizens of Muswellbrook, and surrounding districts, who have made this all possible.
“Everyone’s been very kind – and we’re, indeed, particularly grateful.”
