Seib hopes to run I Want in the race named in honour of her late father but admits it would require a considerable turn around in form for the four-year-old to even run a place let alone win.

If I Want does get a run, and that will depend on the number of acceptors, he could be the last horse she runs at Skellatar Park under her own name.

Seib is leaving Muswellbrook next month to take a senior role with leading trainer, Danny Williams, at Goulburn.

Julie will be staying behind, at least in the short term. 

“Danny stabled his horses with me when he brought Don’t Give A Damn over for the Country Championship Wild Card in March,” Seib said.

“He told me that if I ever wanted a job to give him a ring so, after a lot of thought, I am going over to become his travelling foreman.

“He will let me train in my own right as well, so I will be taking four two-year-olds I bought at Scone earlier this year plus Assault’n’bathory which has been placed at two of his only three starts and is showing promise.

“As for the other tried horses I am not sure.

“If I Want gets a run on Tuesday and does not show much he might be moving on to another career elsewhere.

“However, he will have one more start after this.

“There is a 2000m race at Tuncurry on cup day there and he will go over for that then I will make a decision about his future.” 

Seib says she is excited about her new role.

“It will certainly be different and there is a chance Danny will be sending some of his nice two-year-olds to Melbourne during the spring so that will be a great experience,” she explained.

“This is a chance to learn so much more from a great trainer and horseman.”

Seib is in the final year of her teaching degree at Newcastle University, which she is completing on-line and after her internship next year will be qualified.

“It’s going to be a juggling act but Danny is aware of it and eventually I do want to teach but that is further down the track,” she said.
