The Anglican Church is putting on more of a spectacle than it ever has before, with Reverend Scott Dulley saying they’ve upped the entertainment across all age groups.
The fair will include market stalls, vintage cars, taekwondo and music performances, arts and crafts displays, pony rides, a jumping castle, a petting zoo and plenty of food and drinks including barista-made coffee.
Reverend Dulley said while fairy floss will delight the kids and caffeine will please the adults, the egg and bacon roll would probably be the crowd favourite again.
The funds are set to go to a good cause, too, with multiple community-based organisations receiving a share of profits.
The Reverend said as the event had grown in popularity, so had the amount of local groups hoping to get involved.
“We’ve actually had more people jump on board and as we’ve been able to raise more funds, we’ve been able to support more organisations,” he explained.
He’s hoping they’ll get more people coming through the gates than ever before.
“It’s been going for many, many years,” Reverend Dulley said.
“But, it was revitalised about four years ago and since then it’s had a whole different focus and new market stalls and activities for kids and stuff like that.”
They’ve gained a lot of support in that time with local groups helping out with the entertainment this time around, which include the ambulance and rural fire services, Riding for the Disabled and The Pothouse.
Parish secretary Wendy Armstrong was full of praise for the people who have lent a hand to improve the spectacle.
“We’d just like to thank the community for supporting us with the chocolate wheel and the raffle,” she said.
“We’ve received more than $3000 in donations, which has all been given quite willingly and happily.
“And, we’re very appreciative of that.”
The Spring Fair will take place on Saturday, August 25, from 9am until 2pm at St Alban’s Anglican Church in Muswellbrook.
