IT may have taken a lot longer than he had hoped for, and along the way a few minor podium finishes, but Muswellbrook-based Spano Gutierrez came out on top in the Northern Territory AMCA National Title at Darwin’s Northline Speedway last Friday night.

Gutierrez, who moved south to NSW six years ago, was thrilled to finally clinch a Northern Territory Title, adding his dominance of the recent Top End Challenge and the Darwin Title.
“I came back to visit the NT with my race car and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip.
“To capture my maiden state title was definitely the icing on the cake,” expressed the NT # 46 Endless Engraving @ The Blue Shed-supported Panther racer, who had qualified for the NT Title deciding feature race on pole position and went on to dominate the 25-lap event from beginning to end.
“I’ve contested multiple NT Titles over the years and I haven’t been lucky enough to come away with the win.
“But, off the back of my good run at both the Darwin Title and the Top End Challenge, it all worked in my favour this time around.”
Gutierrez began his NT racing trip with victory in the Darwin Title at Northline Speedway in mid-June, followed by dominating all four nights of the Top End Challenge between Northline Speedway and Katherine Speedway tracks.
And, he credits it to the support of his fiancée Lisa and crew chief Col.
“This whole trip wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Gutierrez stated.
“Everyone enjoyed themselves – both at the track and away from it – and it was their efforts behind the scenes that enabled me to go out there and achieve success on the circuit.”
With the NT # 46 Panther car, which consists of a 253 Holden engine and Holden differential package, up for sale, Gutierrez has upgraded his equipment following the purchase of one of the country’s leading AMCA Nationals from Victorian Jamie Collins that boasts the latest 350 Chev and quick-change differential package.
His current AMCA National remains for sale.

Gutierrez would like to thank 2018 season sponsor Endless Engraving @ the Blue Shed, as well as fiancée Lisa Williams, crew chief Col Goodhew, and Vicki Taylor and Todd Keaton from Endless Engraving @ The Blue Shed.
