WHILE Brook Blue failed to make 100 for the second consecutive week, Silver’s captain Jarrod Watts had no such trouble as he brought up his ton against Belltrees at the weekend.

Following his undefeated half century last week in the Upper Hunter District Cricket Association, Watts moved up the order which allowed him more time to convert his score.
One of few highlights in a 166-run loss for his side, the skipper’s 102 not out brings his average to an incredible 189 for the season.
Unfortunately he was scarcely supported as the rest of the team picked up just 34, with no one else contributing double figures.
However, the side was always facing an uphill battle after a very strong Belltrees team set a total of 302, making the most of a motionless cement pitch that made life difficult for bowlers.
There was an improved effort in the field though with less dropped catches, although the most notable fielder of the day came in the second innings as a red-bellied black snake took up position at fine leg.
The Blues probably could’ve done with the extra fielder at Weeraman as their score was chased down in just 26 overs with their opposition, Bunnan, having five wickets in hand.
Once again, captain Peter Turnbull top scored as he confirmed his place as favourite for their batting award with 22.
Josh Davis did the damage with the ball for the visitors, taking 3-21, while Matthew Langan scored the most runs for the day with undefeated 50.
Ben McRae was the villain for Brook Silver as he dismantled their top order by taking the first four scalps, and only conceding 27 runs from his six overs.
They will be looking to bounce back against sixth-placed Aberdeen this weekend, in what will be their first home game of the season, while Brook Blue will take on the Bellmore Bulls as both sides search for their maiden victory.
In other results from round three, Rouchel claimed the points against Murrurundi, Merriwa defended a low total of 101 to defeat the Bulls by 28 runs and Aberdeen and the Bushrangers were forced to share points after the weather made for unsafe playing conditions.
