It was a 33 run margin in the end, which looks particularly bad for the losing side who bowled 37 wides in just over 33 overs.
However not all damage was self inflicted as Silver’s top four all got starts, with Jake Bartush (22), Mason Solly (28), Lachlan Watts (31) and Joel Barner (46) scoring the vast majority of their sides’ 174 runs.
Dom Cooper and Peter Turnbull can hold their heads high as far as bowling is concerned, taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
However, it was always going to be difficult to chase down the total and despite a couple of nice innings, headlined by Josh Cooper’s 35, they were always one step behind and ultimately hurt by Silver’s comparatively tidy bowling with just 18 sundries in total.
Jarrod Watts and Barner took three wickets a piece, with Tom Scowen also claiming several scalps with 2 for 13.
Given his exploits with the ball and bat Barner would have a fair case to claim he was best afield, but all Brook Silver players will be on cloud nine after suffering through nine weeks without a win prior to Saturday’s game.
In other results, Merriwa defeated Bushrangers by two wickets as they keep hold of top spot, Belltrees got the better of Murrurundi by four wickets, the Belmore Bulls were victorious in a one-wicket thriller against Bunnan while the match between Aberdeen and Rouchel was washed out.
