LIBRARIES often have an Animal Farm but usually it’s the book and not an actual petting zoo.
However, Muswellbrook Library played host to a variety of creatures on Wednesday, much to the delight of children and parents alike.
Piglets, ducklings, chicks, calves, goats and many other fluffy little friends made their way into the centre as part of the Summer Reading Program.
Library coordinator Dion Hockley said the day was a hit – and far beyond what they could’ve imagined.
“It’s been an overwhelming success, we’ve had more than 200 people show up to come look at the baby animals and everyone’s got a smile on their face, even on a hot day,” she said.
“We thought we’d get a few [visitors] but nothing like this.
“So, it’s been really, really good for the library and the kids and the parents as well.”
With this sort of turnout the event can only be described as a triumph and hopefully, for everyone involved, we’ll see it roll around next year, too.
