So much so, players from throughout the four grades hit the training paddock in 41-degree heat on Tuesday evening.
And, their commitment certainly impressed newly-appointed co-coach Ben Baker.
“It’s a good sign for the club,” he said.
“With this heat, getting more than 30 to a session like this is excellent.
“[Co-coach] Phil Beverstock and I know it will be a close competition.
“That’s why we’re working hard so early.”
Following a couple of laps of McKinnon Field, the Tigers then headed to the nearby river to not only beat the heat but tackle a few drills “old school style”.
Baker and Beverstock will be assisted in the coaching ranks by Jim Diggins (reserves), Shane Miller (18s) and Albert Albury (league tag).
