After the success of last week’s petting zoo, there was again a magnificent turnout and this time there was an educational aspect to it, although the kids looked far from bored.
While chaotic at times with the sheer amount of people there, the energy and excitement shown by the youngsters was something to behold according to library coordinator Dion Hockley.
“The kids are busily making a lot of mess which is good,” she said.
“And, understanding that with science some things come together and you can make bouncy balls, or mini explosions that are all harmless and a lot of fun.”
As far as the attendance went, she was thrilled people had made the effort to come along and see what the library is capable of.
“It’s amazing, it’s really good and particularly in the hot weather to have so many people come in… and each year it [the Summer Reading Program] is just getting bigger and bigger,” Ms Hockley said.
“The word’s getting out and people are realising there’s more to the library than just books.”
The establishment has certainly had its fair share of new faces come through in the past week and the coordinator wanted to emphasise that anyone was welcome, whether they’re a regular or not.
