The employee, 46, received a head injury after the truck he was driving on a road within the mine ended in a precarious position on its side on a sloping pile of overburden in an incident shortly before 10am.
A BHP spokesperson described the incident as “minor” and involved a water carter.
The company is clarifying whether NSW Ambulance attended after issuing a statement saying the service did not attend, the worker was not injured and “site paramedics have conducted standard checks”.
But, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the service was contacted at 10.44am and a crew was on the scene where it treated the worker.
“It appeared to be a single-vehicle incident where the truck rolled,” the spokesperson said.
“The patient was extracted from the truck.
“He received a minor injury to the head, a laceration, and has been taken to hospital.”
The Resources Regulator confirmed it had been advised of the incident.
