The al fresco event is on from 9am until 11am on Tuesday, January 22, at the Sustainability Hub and Girl Guide Hall in Wilkinson Avenue, Muswellbrook.
Activities will include:
* Creating your own artwork on wooden sleepers which will be used to build garden beds;
* Finding your green thumb in the garden;
* Learning about creating healthy food; and
* Eating a free delicious brunch.
Nutritionist and coordinator of the Muswellbrook Healthy & Well program Carly Hughes will demonstrate some healthy recipes that can be made from the food in the garden.
“Growing your own food is a great way to encourage kids to eat more fruit and vegetables,” she said.
“And, there’s nothing better than the taste of home grown, fresh vegetables.”
Council’s sustainability officer Mick Brady echoed her sentiments.
“We think kids and parents will enjoy the activities and the nice, healthy food,” he said.
RSVP by Sunday, January 20, to Mick Brady at Muswellbrook Shire Council on 6549 3700 or email Michael.Brady@muswellbrook.nsw.gov.au
