Nominations for the 2018 Muswellbrook Business Awards are now open, but will close on Friday, February 22, meaning anyone considering throwing their or someone else’s hat in the ring has just under a fortnight to submit their applications.
Muswellbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) director Wayne Toms admitted being a finalist, let alone scoring a prize, can be a huge positive for local workplaces.
“Becoming a finalist in itself helps their profile, and obviously winning an award in their category certainly helps their profile and their reputation,” he said.
“But, the judges, as part of their role when they’re doing the judging process, is to give constructive feedback to the businesses on what sort of area they might be able to address or improve on – and that helps their business overall.”
Those eligible must operate within the shire of Muswellbrook, however businesses associated with major sponsors, the MCCI board or the panel of judges will not be allowed to submit applications.
There are prizes available in nine categories, which include retail, new businesses, professional services, financial services, health and beauty services, trades and industry, community groups/non-for-profit organisations, community groups/non-for-profit-volunteer based, and hospitality and tourism.
A panel of independent judges will visit the finalists between March 11 and 15, with the awards ceremony set to take place on Friday, April 5, at the Muswellbrook RSL Club.
The RSVP and payment for that event is March 25.
Forms and more information can be found on the Muswellbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry website in the Business Awards section.
