And, it wasn’t just the parents who were beaming, but the toddlers who enjoyed the return of the Fun Time Playgroup, for 2019.
“It’s our first time back in the new year,” Janelle Eades said.
“The group is an initiative of three services under the Upper Hunter Community Services Inc umbrella, those being Hunter Park Family Centre, Aboriginal Family Worker and the UH Family Support Service.
“While we usually have 10 to 12 children, that figure always increases as the [school] term gets underway.
“So, there are still places available.
“It’s a very informal, supported playgroup, with trained staff from each of the services on hand.
“While we provide many activities, the parents help us with everything, too.
“They also spend quality time with their kids – and assist them to improve their skills.
“We adopt the Helping Your Child with Early Learning model [here].
“So, for us, it’s all about a child’s development at a young age.
“We’re available to talk to parents regarding any other services they require, such as library activities, community events, parenting courses, child and family nurse clinics and Healthy Kids Bus Stop, too.”
The Fun Time Playgroup takes place every Monday, from 10am until noon, during the school term, with other sessions on February 18 and 25, March 4, 8, 11, 18 and 25, and April 1.
It is open to parents, nannies, carers and grandparents of children (0-6 years).
Places are limited, so bookings are essential.
