A HUNTER Valley Police District search of a motor vehicle in Muswellbrook last week produced a number of items, including a loaded “home-made” pistol.

About 12.15am on Tuesday, February 5, officers stopped a car in the IGA carpark, Brook Street, with two males and a female.
The driver, a 32-year-old Rutherford man, was disqualified from holding a licence, while the male passenger was in breach of his curfew bail.
Police then searched the vehicle and a number of NSW registration plates, and a pistol containing a .22 calibre round, was located under the passenger seat as well as a numerous rounds of .22 calibre ammunition.
House-breaking implements, a cut throat razor, a multi-tool containing small blade and 12 pills in resealable bags were also located.
A 28-year-old Metford man was charged with relevant firearms, weapons, drugs/implement offences and bail refused to appear at Cessnock Local Court on February 8.
A future CAN (Court Attendance Notice) will be issued to the 32-year-old regarding the drive while disqualified offence.
