To cover the Muswellbrook, Denman and Sandy Hollow areas, three zones have been created.

There will be four waste types collected by four different crews who will visit each property once only.
Bulky waste must stacked in four different lots:
i) Garden organics: hedge or shrub prunings, twigs, leaves, small branches up to 150mm diameter. Clean garden organic material is processed into pasteurised garden mulch.
ii) Metals: empty whitegoods (remove all doors) disassembled bed frames. Metal items are sent to be recycled into steel and other products.
iii) Electronics: kitchen appliances, televisions, computers and peripheral devices. Electronic items are sent to be disassembled and components recycled.
iv) Bulky Household Waste: unrepairable furniture, mattresses, old floor coverings, broken glass (wrap in newspaper) Items that are beyond their useful life will go into landfill.
Piles must be tidy, not obstruct the footpath or encroach onto the road.
Up to two cubic metres for each household (about the tray of a standard ute) can be collected.
Problem household waste, including paint tins, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, household and car batteries, fluro globes and tubes, smoke detectors and motor and other oils will not be collected but can be dropped off at Muswellbrook’s Community Recycling Centre, Coal Road, for free.
Only residents with a weekly kerbside bin collection are eligible for the bulky waste collection.
Businesses and domestic houses outside the kerbside collection zone are not eligible.
