So, it’s time to check out rubbish hotspots in your neighbourhood and challenge your friends and family to make 2019 the year when change starts with you.
Online registrations are free and now open at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
Over the past 29 years volunteers have donated more than 33 million hours at in excess of 178,000 locations across the country.
Together, they have removed the equivalent of 350 thousand ute-loads of rubbish across Australia.
Muswellbrook Shire’s sustainability officer Tracy Ward said council was hoping residents would participate to send a message to litterers and illegal dumpers that the community finds their behaviour to be “unacceptable”.
The event is also part of a larger Club to Club Project, a partnership funded jointly by council and New South Wales Environment and Heritage Trust between Muswellbrook Golf Club, The Remington Motor Inn and Muswellbrook and District Workers Club along with Muscle Creek Landcare group and local contractors.
The community is encouraged to participate in Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 3 - in Muswellbrook at Wilkinson Avenue, opposite the croquet club from 9am to noon; and in Denman at Name Path, Merino Street, from 9am to noon.
Bring a water bottle, hat and closed shoes.
Gloves and bags will be supplied.
The event is being supported by JR Richards and MACH Energy Mount Pleasant Operation.
Muswellbrook and Denman scouts are supplying a barbecue lunch, too.
