AFTER a long and hard year, the Upper Hunter District Cricket Association season wrapped up with a relaxed and friendly match between the two Muswellbrook sides at the weekend.
The C grade grand final was played between Silver and Blue, and it was the former that prevailed by 49 runs, meaning the latter picked up the unfortunate label of wooden spooners for 2018-19.
The victors made 160 and dismissed their cross-town rivals for 111, making it their third win over them for the year.
It was capped off by the club presentation on Saturday night, which saw the best players for the season rewarded for their efforts.
Silver captain Jarrod Watts took out the award for club champion and best batting average and aggregate, Blue's Dom and Josh Cooper picked up the best bowler and top fielder prizes respectively, while the novelty award for most ducks went to Jayden Parker.
Parker did, however, top score in the last home and away match with 28, which would've eased the pain and helped the average.
It was a season of transition for the Brooks and things are set to be more positive next season as a result of it with talented youth coming through.
