MUSWELLBROOK Toastmasters Club's Barbie Turvey will travel to Bateau Bay for next month's divisional contest after claiming the Area 12 international speech title at the weekend.
Members from the local organisation competed with four other clubs - Cessnock, Singleton, Maitland and Port Stephens - in a couple of disciplines at the East Maitland Bowling Club on Sunday.
Mrs Turvey won the international speech section from a field of five, while Cessnock's John Quinn captured the evaluation honours.
"It was a great result for Barbie - and we wish her well in April," Muswellbrook Toastmasters vice-president public relations Jenny Webster said.
"During the day, Elizabeth Walter was also presented with her 15-year continuous service membership certificate."

The Muswellbrook Toastmasters Club meets on the first, third and fifth Mondays of the month in the Ron Adams Room at the Muswellbrook and District Workers Club from 7pm.
"Interested people are welcome to join in for three or four obligation-free meetings to see if we can help you speak to others," Mrs Webster said.
