REFLECTING modern thinking in waste management, the new-look Reuse Shop at Muswellbrook's Waste Management Facility will open its doors this weekend.
A free sausage sizzle is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 6, and guided tours of the Waste Facility available to anyone interested.
Visitors can purchase items salvaged by the eagle-eyed staff at the Waste Facility at bargain prices.
The recovered goods include furniture, sporting equipment, paintings, prints, antique finds, bric a brac, tools and even a kitchen sink.
As the saying goes, "one person's trash is another's treasure", and there are plenty of quality used and recycled treasures to be found at the Reuse Shop.
Reuse shops provide significant benefits to the community by making available quality pre-loved goods at affordable prices to local residents.
Reducing the amount of waste going into the Muswellbrook landfill is an environmental benefit while the economic advantage is a reduction in the Waste Levy fee being paid to the NSW State Government.
Bargain hunters should park in the designated area outside the facility on Coal Road and then follow the pedestrian signs.
If, after browsing, it is necessary to load large or heavy items, waste staff will guide shoppers on driving their vehicle into the site to allow them to load their goodies.
The Reuse Shop at Muswellbrook's Waste Management Facility will be open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm.
Enquiries can be directed to the Muswellbrook Waste Facility on 6542 5706.
