The Mark Schmetzer-trained daughter of Al Maher broke through at her 12th attempt, the Muswellbrook mare scoring a short neck win from Greenskeeper with Kacper Boy a long head away third.
Jockey Ben Looker rode Branui and had the mare in a good spot, travelling midfield but just a few lengths off the leaders.
When he pulled her out she found plenty to come off Kacper Boy's heels and finish powerfully.
"It might do her good, confidence wise," Looker told Schmetzer after unsaddling.
"We got to them quite easy but then she wanted to stargaze."
Schmetzer has had Branui throughout her career.
"She's just immature," he said.
"She was always going to win one; just been unlucky.
"She could have won her past two but got held up at the wrong time."
He believes she will also "get further".
